Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you have had a good break and you and your children are looking forward to the start of the new school year. We have been up and running for a couple of weeks and on both campuses our residential students have already started returning. Yesterday was a particularly special day for all the teaching staff as they came together on Moshi campus to (re-)unite and plan. Everyone found the bond between teachers as strong as ever despite our two-year, covid-induced hiatus. We are already planning for our next in-service day which will be in Arusha at the beginning of January.
As we look to next week, there are a couple of housekeeping items I need to highlight:
Study Permits – study permits are essential for all expatriate students, EC-D2, and I have been informed again today that no student is to be in class without the appropriate study permit. For residential students we can help in this process but for day students this is the responsibility of the parents. Once you have your permit, please ensure that you upload a copy of it to the UWCEA Life system. We are regularly audited by the Department of Immigration so it is important that this document is available for inspection. I regret that if we find a student in the school without the appropriate documentation we will have to ask them to stay at home until this is provided.
School fees – please be informed that fees are due before the beginning of the quarter for the upcoming quarter. I thank the majority of parents who have already paid all fees for quarter one and ask those who have not done so to please pay fees before the term begins. One of the most painful aspects of my job is having to exclude a child from school due to non payment of fees. It is distressing for the child, their parents and for school staff. If you know you have outstanding fees, I ask that you contact me immediately.
I thank you for choosing our school for the education of your child, and look forward to seeing many of you over the year.
With warm regards,
Anna Marsden
